This was placed into effect on March 1st, 2007, the Friendship Engine & Hose Company No. 1 is known as Franklin County Company-14.

This strictly only affects any dealings or matters with the Engine-Tanker.  Our members continue to be apart of Company-1; nothing changes in relation to membership status, etc.  To clarify, we are not "breaking away" from the borough, just expanding to simplify our operations relating to the Engine-Tanker and its mission.  As previously stated, such as the Franklin Fire Company No.4, we are chartered under the Borough of Chambersburg, but own and maintain our own piece(s) of apparatus.  The Borough of Chambersburg provides us with a borough "tax-payer" owned (yellow) apparatus that falls strictly under Company-1 and the Borough of Chambersburg.

After several months of lengthy discussions, meetings with the borough and other consultations, it was decided that since "`ET-1" (using the Co.1 designation) could create additional legal ramifications against the Borough of Chambersburg when they have no authority or own the unit if something in the future would occur.  Many people, including chief officers from several surrounding departments agreed and understand the endeavor.  Additionally, with applying for grants and other funding, this will allow us to have our own "FDID" number and not "sharing" with the Borough of Chambersburg's number.  This change is essentially minor in the "overall scope" of the department, but allows a company owned unit to have its own designation without dragging the borough into a legal nightmare.  Again in closing, this only affects any dealing with the Engine-Tanker.

ET 14 is OWNED, MAINTAINED and GOVERNED by the FRIENDSHIP ENGINE & HOSE COMPANY NO.1.

ET-14 receives some assistance from the Borough of Chambersburg such as some fire equipment on the unit, some training funding, workman's compensation, station housing and a few other miscellaneous items and is very much appreciated.

The Chambersburg Fireman's Relief Association has also provided a great deal of equipment for ET-14, and some training funding, and we thank that organization for their continued support.

Although the above organizations provide a great deal of assistance, the Friendship Fire Company must continue to fund raise and receive your financial support to maintain other equipment purchases for the unit, fuel consumption, preventive maintenance and repairs, insurance, training funding, and other necessary items to uphold and maintain a proficient and adequate service to the community.

ET-14 may respond 2nd due in the borough (as E1-1 is the primary) and is primarily available for mutual aid calls.
